Rippan Kapur

Rippan Kapur - heard of him? If yes, that's great. Unfortunately, I don't think I had heard his name before. Let me start from the start :)

I have been receiving an email from CRY for the past 2-3 days and I was successfully ignoring/deleting it. Today after deleting the 3rd or 4th email, when the next one arrived at my Inbox, I could no longer do that. The email inspired me enough to go to their website and support a child's education financially (somehow I don't like the word donate). While I was looking for a way to automatically deduct a nominal amount from my bank account every month directly, I came across CRY Buddies and thereby got to know Mr. Rippan Kapur, the founder of CRY. Its amazing to know the way he started - at 25, with Rs. 50 and the dining table at his home. But look at where CRY stands today. We lost him too early though - he was just 40. Here's his motto:

"What I can do, I must do."

Very inspiring. I hope to be able to contribute in my own way to the society as well. I had discussed with mum about supporting an NGO for mentally challenged children especially in terms of teaching painting and helping them with material for that. I haven’t taken steps yet to do it. Let me go back to my goal list and add one more to it!!

D012 - "I prefer to", not "I have to"

Even when you think you are doing something forcefully or out of no choice, you are making a choice and that better be or become something you enjoy.

D011 - Have a personal mission statement

Have a personal mission statement

Tips:
  1. Make your personal mission statement as detailed and descriptive as possible.
  2. When writing it, use the present tense with statements.
  3. Be sure to write as if you have already achieved your special purpose.
  4. Visualize

My personal mission statement:

  1. I am a wonderful, loving, caring wife, daughter, mother (would be for now), friend, sister.
  2. I am a great painter. I paint from life. I know all forms and mediums of painting.
  3. I am a good writer. I write from the heart and my books are bestsellers. (I want to laugh on this one but I'll not.)
  4. I am creative.

D010 - Benjamin Franklin

To Benjamin Franklin, there was no greater purpose in life than to "live usefully."

What inspires me or connects me to Benjamin Franklin is his desire/ability to turn his frustration into opportunities - be it his bifocal glasses or the wooden claw thinggy. By the way, the childhood teacher/parents' all time favorite "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise" was Benjamin's gift to us.

D009 - Persevere

Persistence - The act of holding firmly to your goals or undertaking despite obstacles.

Determination - The quality of mind which reaches definite conclusions.

Perseverance = Persistent determination
